It’s been a whirlwind romance with my E500 before I realised what I missed in my C5050z. The Multi Metering Mode & live preview. And a really frustrating time since I got the blue screen of death on my laptop 3 weeks ago that prevented me from viewing any of the shots I had taken while gallivanting in the corridors of castles & the embankment of a tin dredge that also happens to be the territory of big buffaloes.
I have never had to deal with environmental hazards until I got myself a Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera. It seems that peering through the ever-so-tiny viewfinder on my E500 can cause you to be oblivious to your surroundings especially when you are totally engrossed with the subject that you are aiming at. And travelling with a wounded, bandaged knee, isn’t exactly the most convenient to go shooting in as I couldn’t be on all fours to capture bugs & such. I circled the banks of an enclosed tin dredge (kapal korek), admiring the glory of tin mining in yesteryears, only to have a herd of water buffaloes wander onto my path & chased me silly!!! All this while I was !!! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! Run for your life!!!! *pummkin runs helter skelter on her pink crocalikes as she escapes the charging bull* I don’t think they ever taught me how to avoid protective bulls in their herd in geography class. It’s something that nobody can aid you in a situation like this especially when it’s out in the countryside & there isn’t anyone out & about (they probably know there are buffaloes in the area….). Praise the Lord for angels who aided me to run from them……hahahahah! And have since lost the hobble & now walking properly.
Note:- Since my last entry, I’ve been Tenggol, Bangkok, Taiping, Batu Gajah, Kampar, Ipoh & back. I had a nasty injury from a fall in Bangkok & was not able to bend my left knee for more than 3 weeks. It has since been better & I’ve learnt to squat again!!! Some muscles are still aching but the swell has gone & the wound has now scabbed over. Needless to say, no gym for now. Thank God for His mercies……although friends just keep saying I never did very well on land. 🙂 I will try to summarise all that I’ve done with the numerous pictures I’ve shot over the last two months. Maybe even put them in a separate gallery for viewing. Will let you know when that comes about now that I’ve got my laptop up & running again!!!
Hi Pam, long time no blog.. thought you were underwater (look who’s talking?. when this person writing this himself has not blog since Thailand’s trip) What happened to your knee? hope all’s fine now. Hei..what happened to you coming to Ipoh to look for ‘mua’ to go trigger happy?. ‘Mua’ waited for Pammy to call, but alas, no call came and “mua’ was so sad…sob…sob… my shooting gear was polished, set and ready to rear, but unfortunately they had to sit quitely in their little cupboards and await to be called……
Hi Antonio,
Let’s call this a ‘mis-adventure’ where my detour never really made it & much to the disappointment of all involved, everything was too abrupt. Sorry for not making it. Will definitely make an Ipoh trip to have half-boiled eggs with you!!! 🙂
