In the dark recesses of our hearts, lie the secrets & fears of our soul. They are areas of weaknesses or past problems we would rather shove deeper & never to have to feel that pain & frustration & relive those hurt that once caused us to fall.
Opening up causes us to be vulnerable to hurt or rejection & instead of being honest about our feelings, we have learned to protect ourselves by projecting images to hide the real self. Sometimes we wonder why some people just can’t relate to us or worse still, get offended by everything that we do or say. If we want to know others, we have to be willing to be known. Taking this step is, in fact, saying, “This is the real me, lock, stock & barrel, the good, the bad & possibly the nasty side that no one but you, gets to see. You can love me or hate me but I’m saying that you can now reveal the real you too.” Only then, can the depth of love & mutual understanding can begin.
By creating a climate of respect, trust & love, we are actually encouraging each other to risk that vulnerability that so often prevent friendship beyond superficial fondness.
Can you probe the limits of the Almighty?
They are higher than the heavens – what can you do?
They are deeper than the depths of the grave – what can you know?
Their measure is longer than the earth & wider than the sea.
Job 11:7 -9
Yes, we can’t fathom the mysteries of God unless He chooses for us to know & understand, so we cannot fathom the mysteries in other’s hearts until they are willing to reveal them in the course of a deepening relationship. Is there someone that you would like to know better? Maybe it would help if you would humble yourself before God & ask Him to take away the fear of self-disclosure to make this happen.
We’re a bunch of volunteers and starting a brand new scheme in our community.
