On Tuesday 19 May 2009, Yorg came by the kelong to let us know that the food at the southern side of the island was untouched. We left the place with our respective boats at the same time. When we got back to land, the lady at the roadside coffee stall told us that the party who had come out before us had a beautiful yellow dog with them. We didn’t think much about it. Today, when I got here, the workers at the kelong were furious. Kuning had not come back for the passed two nights & he was last seen with them. They think that ANOTHER ORGANISATION is responsible for taking him. If he is not returned to the rightful owner, they will lodge a report against them.
How is this different from the dog catchers who enter people’s compound to take people’s dog without consent??? Kuning belongs to Adi, Bono & Shafi at the kelong & just because Kuning traverses the channel to the mangroves frequently, it doesn’t give anyone any right to cart him off. So the big ORG doesn’t just compete for space in dog rescue, put dogs to sleep when there’s no space, but they also take dogs which do not belong to them. What kind of animal shelter employs people & volunteers who do not respect other dog owners??? Now I’m pissed. YOU ALL HAVE NO RIGHT TO TAKE KUNING AWAY FROM HIS OWNERS!!! BRING HIM BACK YOU IDIOTS!!!
Poor Kuning. He was just about staring a life again then, this…..
Hope Kuning is returned to his masters, and that he is OK wherever he is. Whoever has him better treats him well or….. that whoever shall answer to the Almighty!!
Pummkin, should put some sort of identification on Kuning. Maybe a very flashy collar? The other rescuers may not know Kuning belongs to the fisherman as he does wonder around. Hope he comes back safely though.
Pam,
I do not know whether my intuition is correct, so didn’t post here. Scare may make matters more complicated. But please check on my email just sent to Sabrinayeap and also to dogrescue under URGENT URGENT MATTERS ABOUT KUNING!
Please ask Janet maybe she can forward you the email as I have a photo there.
I hope I am wrong!!
Please call the shelter concerned and find out or sent someone there to find out whether Kuning is taken there. Be cool. Prays that nothing happens to Kuning.
whoever that have taken kuning, please return it to the owner. use your brains le..surely a well fed and beautiful dog belongs to someone..
Kuning and Hitam must a name tag..or else some idiots will just take them..

Dear Pummkin,
First of all, I’m not a pro-Society person. In fact, I’m an anti-Society person. However, is there a possibility that they have mistaken Kuning as one of the strays stranded there? Especially now that Kuning is used to humans around him, he might have walked right up to the rescuers.
However, I can go to the Society’s compound this Saturday to see if Kuning is there or not as I leave about 25mins away from their place. I’ll take pic of dogs that might look like Kuning and MMS it to you. I think there shouldn’t be a problem identifying Kuning as he is already pretty plumb.
YOU ALL HAVE NO RIGHT TO TAKE KUNING AWAY FROM HIS OWNERS!!! BRING HIM BACK YOU IDIOTS!!!
My sentiments exactly…couldn’t have put it better.
I think it’s time the world is shown what sort of “NGO” is this “ORG”.
people, get the word out, share this blogpage –
I din`t know before that SPCA is such a jerk .
I used to support them but now i`m not anymore.
Yet,from what i know ,the SPCA in penang is very different , in good ways of coz
probably manage by some good souls
Well, calm down first… we do not want to put FFF in trouble with false allegation do we?
If it’s really true that this ORG is doing what we think, we have to have proof or else they will say FFF is misleading the public against them.
Well, if they really had taken Kuning, then I pray some good souls there will leak this news coz I believe whatever and however bad an org is, there is bound to be some good people inside just that they are too soft and timid to voice out…especially during economy crisis, they may also be afraid to loose their job.
We stress to you, if you are doing something against your conscience, please don’t especially with lives.
So if Kuning is really there, please please release it back to its owner unharm.
Just look at what dogs can do, are you not touched by how Hitam enticed his less fortunate pals from Hell Island to swim to the rescuers like in Grace’s case?? Are you not touched to see how Kuning misses Er Win when he left to survey the Island?? I am thinking these dogs deserves so much respect from us and is showing us humanity some of us had LOST!!
This is outrageous! Words fail to express how I feel about this situation. I just hope that Kuning returns or is returned to his rightful owners…
ALAMAK… where has Kuning been? Hope he is safe out there 🙁
Oh no. So how now? Could someone living in Ampang please go survey Spca & see if it’s there? Plus Kuning doesn’t have any marks on him, so people might think he is just a new stray dog. Haihh.
Hi Pamm,
Check on the SPCA newsletter. They have a photo with Kuning and proudly have the caption “Kuning watches as we try to transfer his friend into another cage”.
http://www.enewsletter.com.my/newsletter/N1682.html
Now you have the prove to claim Kuning back from them.
Hope this woyld help.
I don’t know much head from tail of this Kuning story but there is also a mention of the same name in the reporting by (I believe) a rep of the other Org. Can see the story here http://www.puppy.com.my/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=331180;page=2;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;mh=25;
I wonder if this is the same Kuning? I hope Kuning will be back with his master as I know how it feels if our ‘child’ is missing.
Just 3 days ago my Shauna (Spitz mix Husky which was adopted) was on her daily dose of 3 minutes free running/sprinting outside our house (she likes to sprint a lot). Unfortunately at that same time the garbage truck guys were making their rounds off from their usual schedule. I believe they chased Shauna away when they saw she wanted to enter our house gate. After about 10mins she didn’t return home, I got worried & start a search for her (I can sense that she was in trouble). Then suddenly I heard a familiar bark & howling…. I saw Shauna at the other side of the main road & calling me to rescue her. I just don’t know how she managed to jump over 2 big/deep drains & a very busy 2 way street. I suspect she was running away from the garbage truck ppl & since everyday before I release her I always talk to her if anybody tries to catch her she must run away as fast as she can & wait for me at the spot where I always bring her for walks. Seems that she did listen to my advice but after crossing the main road she got panic doesn’t know how to cross back when seeing so many construction lorries around. The sight of her white, angelic, fluffy hair & barking like a small child calling her daddy is just something that will always etch in my mind. Once I’m right by her side she just sit on the grass like asking me to carry her…. & carry her with much love I did… just like the image of Jesus holding on to His “Lost Sheep” 🙂
The collar idea is a great one. Hope and pray Kuning is returned!!
Hi Pumkinn,
I’ll go over to SPCA this Sunday to see if I can find Kuning or not. Although I have made a personal promise and swore not to step foot in that place ever again, I’ll do it for Kuning’s sake.
Will update you guys again tomorrow after I come back from SPCA.
I mean, I’ll go over this Saturday*
I thought that the rescuers will be taking photos and naming them in the process. Lets see if there is any updates on this. But since the org been to the Kelong, I would believe that they should have seen the dogs and how well fed and plump they are. Just cant believe they caught the wrong dog in return.
I prayed Kuning will be back to his rightful owners soon. Since Kuning is missing, can you please provide a collar to Hitam just in case. We are just as worried as you.
I completely agree with Mrs. Tham there.
Just check whether Kuning is there. He might be at the vets or cattery or something. You did say he was distressed when Er Win left so maybe he went walkabout somewhere. But it’s definitely a good idea to put tags on Kuning & Hitam.
Even if they did take him, maybe it was an honest mistake. After all he did not have any form of identification on him so let us deal with locating him first.
Chillax…
Oh NO!!!! Poor Kuning…. If the suspicions are true… HOW COULD YOU??? IDIOTS!!! RETURN Kuning to the owners!! Where were you when he was first rescued??? You HAVE NO RIGHT at all!!!!
I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed that Kuning is safe and sound…. I was beginning to love him from afar…..
Hi all
i was really mad yesterday. i had time to think it over and i realised the same thing as mrs tham..i do agree with her.
this may be another ploy or ruse to draw out the supporters of FFF into giving vent to their anger and thus putting FFF at risk of legal action over the words of their supporters.
I have too noticed the same patterns at certain pet-orient forums where the self- proclaim supporters and propoents of that org (they didn’t say exactly but they proceed to show through their words in bashing FFF) will just write rubbish and rant and raved their collective rabid brains off – in order to get some reaction…they also keep posting updates on their work – which are cleverly worded (now compared to previously) to insinnuate that they are doing their work and others are just taking the credit.
very subtle mind-wargame indeed.
if this is their ploy, then i’m still incensed that kuning is made a pawn in their evil machinations.
however i must stay calm and focus, as must all, to refocus our “outrage” into positive action and thought – never ever lose sight of that..a calm mind will lead to clearer options..
there will definitely be time for retribution later when all the dogs are saved.
what goes around will definitely comes round. 1 day.
Lets keep our hopes high and fingers crosses that Celine will find Kuning UNHARMED and take him out! But if the KElong people can give us some feedbacks about Kuning’s special markings would be great…
GOD bless you Celine.
ANyhow still hope Kuning will return asap to its owner! ASAP!
hi pam,
how about kuning being taken to either one of the hell island (esp the one nearest to the kelong) and place where he is out of harm way, given food and water but just kept “away” for a few days…to what end we won’t know and let’s not speculate now..but pam if your team and you can spare time, would you look there? we know the island is not fully explored.
WTF?????? How dare they take KUNING away????????
Hi Ashley
But according to pummkin’s blog, the lady at the roadside coffee shop saw the yellow dog at the mainland.
But if kuning really taken and placed in another island like what you mentioned.. I would say that those people are really very evil..Everyone trying to get the dogs out and here putting it back to where it doesnt belong. I really hope this is not the case.
Oh… i hope Kuning is found soon.. any news?
Actually I noticed that there are other unregistered rescue teams went into Pulau Selat Kering too, not sure they did mistakenly take Kuning away. Check out this link:- http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1020074/+120
God please bring Kuning back to his loving Owners.
If he’s somewhere on his own – please show him the way home. If he’s with someone – please open the person’s heart and make them take Kuning HOME.
how sure are we that Kuning didnt strayed off by himself? Is the lady at the stall able to differentiate one kuning dog from another kuning dog?
a lady (maybe from spca), jacinta or something is denying the Kuning ‘dog-nap’…Whats the next step, if any?
guys, after reading this entry i checked out SPCA’s website and happened to come across one of the rescue updates they posted.
http://www.enewsletter.com.my/newsletter/N1682.html
Check out the post of Day 6: under the 2nd picture the caption reads: Kuning watches as we try to transfer his friend into another cage.
I don’t know if it’s our Kuning, if it is, then that means some people from SPCA DEFINITELY know that Kuning is not meant to be rescued and kept by them!
I hope Celine can trace Kuning soon.. I will pray hard Kuning will be found soon.. 🙁
Oh Kuning.. where are u, boy??? 🙁
I just hope that I can recognise Kuning since he had no tags or very distinctive features. I’m purely relying on his coat colour, body size (a bit fatter than the other strays) and the colour of his muzzle. The closest I can see of Kuning in ‘real life’ is the Saving Grace video.
Anyone who notices any distinctive features of Kuning, pls post here
Hi Daniella,
While I can’t speak for the other rescue teams from other forums, I know very well that none of the two different teams in Lowyat.net is involved in Kuning’s disapperance. This is because one team said they are temporarily putting their mission on hold while the other is working closely with Sabrina at FFF. Unless there’s a third team who went there themselves, then I do not know about that…
Just as we are looking thru their blog, they are also doing the same too, seeing our updates and studying us. So to those who are really planning to go check or planning anything at all, please do not mention it here. Just do it discretely and then let us know the outcome. I doubt Kuning will be sitting there waiting for Celine after all this HOOO HAAAA.
But anyway Celine, just in case I am wrong, still check it out at that evil place just to make sure OK? God Bless!
I just hope Kuning out of curiosity had just stroll away and are home with its owner.
That ORG has strong connections…
no doubt, but our supporters are growing stronger by the second too, and we will not sit quiet if our furry kids and Sabrina is being harmed in any way.
Always stay united!
Always pray for FFF, Sabrina and all its truely great rescuers, for all the furry friends still on that Hell Island as well as those saved, pray that Good always to triump over evil, pray for peace, courage and wisdom as we all really need that.
And pray that S*CA will conduct their spaying/neutering not only to house pets and community pets of PKetam, but also to all the strays. No point only neuter those owned, the number of strays in PKetam will still multiply if they are not being Catch, Neuter & Release! PLease, don’t ever repeat “Catch & Release” as pulau Selat Kering again! Please try to “Prevent” with a Capital P as it is in your name SPCA. PLease do not euthanize the strays. I have this feeling that they will coz they had stress many times that the Neutering campaign is for pets with owners! Tarak mention on what will be done to the strays. PLease do nt forget how the strays got there in the first place!
Call back Caat!!!!!!!
I think in the light where this dog rescue mission still has a long way to go, we as animal lovers should focus & recompose ourselves to the long term goal that is to to remove them from hell island; & on the side be less of a ‘satay’ (cantonese: ??? between FFF & S*CA.
Pam has every right to rant because this is her blog & it’s a tough job to be on the first line of this mission. We as supporters can be listeners & give opinions, but when no information is confirmed maybe we shouldn’t accuse S*CA too soon. We HOPE whichever parties who gotten Kuning had done it out of goodwill but not intentional, and after some dialogues/ correspondence she can be returned to FFF.
We should try to stay calm but PERSISTENT on every occasion to make this mission peaceful & successful; kick out thoughts of the ugly human side (it will always be there no matter what)but remind ourselves of the bigger mission ahead.
Good Luck Pam!
Prayers with you at all times!
🙂
Agree with Mrs. Tham we must keep our cool and head together. Keep on praying that Kuning will somehow return to its rightful owners where he has find a happy place.Cruel to take happiness away from an innocent creature.
Don’t let the at least 300 dogs that was sent to horrible slowly painful death die in vain. Painful and heart wrenching it may be; it happens for a reason. It is to open our eyes, our hearts, our minds to the plights of innocent strays in this country.
Be rest assured if this Sabrina Yeap is hampered in any way; there are many many more Sabrinas will come out to take her place. There are already Sabrinas whose identities were hidden but lurking every nook and corners; already spent their hard earned cash to spay, nueter, shelter and care for strays. Met so many at my eneighbourhood vet. We kept our identitities hidden because we are harassed by heartless individuals and ‘organised individuals. So we move in the shadows.
Do our part; when we see or come across a stray dog or cat or injured or lost animals – don’t turn a blind eye; if we can afford to take them in, shelter them and care for them. Cannot just pass on this ‘legacy’ to families, friends or anyone who have the space, resources and heart. Spay and nueter as much we can afford to. Pass it forward this legacy. End this vicious cycle of being indifference to sufferings of strays. Start by encouraging, supporting our circle of network to do the same. Love and hug our pets often. Start with ourselves first.
Let US be the power to reckon with. We don’t want to win this ‘battle’ but lose the ‘war’.
This is a test to our will and strength. Don’t let the challenge gets to us. Don’t spend our energies, efforts and time playing mindless mind games.
Just remember; THOSE whose ‘rice bowls’ and put their hearts and souls ‘terminating’, ‘eliminating’ innocent animals will stop AT NOTHING to sustain their ‘rice bowl’. Their gods are money and worldly possessions and glory. This will never change. It is in their beings and the true measure of their very souls. We are not like that. We don’t mess with whatever they had chosen to do with their lives. Just do our part in every possible way we can.
Let the Greater Power than ourselves do ITS WORK.
Have a good and productive weekend you all.
Hey, how about putting up posters of Kuning on the island? And leave a few contact numbers below. Just in case some people are not aware of your blog and that a search is on for the missing dog. Maybe can have it in English, Chinese and BM
Hi guys, I just got back from the Society after spending about an hour + there. I paid close attention to the new arrivals and those under the Quarantine area and saw several dogs resembling Kuning. However, I cannot say for sure if he is there because I really can’t differentiate between those several dogs.
When I tried to take pictures, one of the chinese lady (I don’t know her name but I recognise her from 2 years ago – extremely rude) asked me what am I doing inside there and prevent me from taking pictures (I actually took several pics of the puppies there before I took other pics).
Overall there’s a lot of puppies there and the number of adult dogs have decreased significantly (from what I remember 2 years ago) except for those ‘new arrivals’ and those under ‘Quarantine’.
I’m really sorry I can’t confirm whether Kuning is there or not. I really do hope he is still at Ground Zero instead of at the Society…
Is there a way for someone who recognised Kuning to check on him there?
I also agree with Adelene – putting up posters of Kuning on the island. Maybe this will help to get more info about his missing.
I really hope u guys will find him soon 🙁
Well Celine,
thks for checking… I guess if anyone of us were to be there, we will face the same problem of not being able to recognise one Kuning from the other since we are not his owner who had spent much time with him.
If it’s my Happy, I am sure I can recognise her by the way she reacts when I touch her, by the sound of her barks/howls and I always have a certain part of her coat cut(of coz not noticeable) real short every week when I bath her…just in case. My Happy is never on a leash nor a cage. She is free to roam the garden and the house, and we even park our cars outside to make space for her. Sometimes I come to think our pets all are so lucky esp Donald’s SIAO MEI, have you guys seen her blog? WOW!! Hey Donald, if I happen to open a cafe for petlovers to hang out with their pets and piers, do you think you will come?? 😉
Well, its been days now since Kuning is missing..
and I am also missing her way from here. Please please do not let Hitam face the same, please put a collar on Hitam, with a doggie tag which reads HITAM and also the owners contact no(s).
Hey FFF, later stage maybe you can have tags made for our pets too, even harnesses which reads I HAVE PALS AT FFF. THEY NEED A GOOD HOME. or something like I AM PROUD TO HELP FFF COZ I SUPPORT ‘NO KILL’ ANIMAL SHELTERS.
We can get them from you NO PROB since we are buying them from Petshops/Hypermarts! Why not get from FFF and at the same time a portion of the purchase price can be taken as a donation to FFF.
As for Dogs adopted from FFF, they will have a special harness which write I AM GREATFUL TO BE ALIVE. THANK YOU FFF. I LOVE MY NEW HOME.
You know when we bring our pets for walks in the park, this would be such great ice-breakers, and we can help spread FFF’s mission too!
I don’t mind paying for Pos Laju and stuff coz anyway with the price of petrol up again soon, it’s still cheaper right and this way you can have it sold to everywhere in Malaysia. We can order thru an FFF eshop too. Well, I would be ever so willing to support and buy my pets accessories from FFF then.
Thank you Celine. You did your best. Love to go myself but if I were to go they would kick me out so fast; I am sure they remember me as used to send them donations but not anymore. Someone with Indonesian slang calling out Kuning, Kuning bearing fried mutton will be better. Don’t give up hope you guys.
A suggestion that maybe one of Kuning’s owner (the one Kuning is most attached to) can follow one of FFF’s volunteers to the few animal shelters responsible for housing these dogs and see whether Kuning is there…
For us to located would just end up like sweet Celine who can’t recognise Kuning given so many Kunings there. Some photos from the updates shows Kuning with such a cream/kuning hue and some shows her with a brown/kuning hue..
Moreover as to what Celine mentioned earlier, she happened to see a few that resemble Kuning, so perhaps the owner should also go there to look.
MAE, with that piece of fried mutton, the whole kennel will respond to KUNING KUNING!! ….:-)
Maybe one of the Indonesian workers who attached to Kuning can go there to check. Kuning doesn’t need any ‘bribe’ to know his human. He will wiggles his tail and ‘smiles’ happily soon as he sees his human 🙂
I dont think Kuning will be in the shelter…
Hmm… the people who kidnapped Kuning will be caging him in ‘ someone’s ‘ Home.
Kuning will not be seen again. We all believe that the people who are involved in this abductions will suffer a great deal in their lives before death.
Reading TV Smith’s report on Kuning’s distraught owner brought tears to my eyes. Can anyone help drive Panjang on his day off to the Society to see if he can locate Kuning?
I’m so terribly sorry that I wasn’t able to locate the baby….
Dam^*f#.?-ngAssh*(ORG)!
Go save them elephants!
Its not your fault u r unable to locate/recognize Kuning. U tried! U r just unfamiliar with Kuning. Now with that kinda scar, I am sure people are able to recognise.
I can feel how sad his owners are. When I lost my cat for just 3 days many years ago, I cried every day and nite hoping no harm will befall my kitty. When I found her, it was better than striking 1st prize 4D…
If someone can bring Panjang over to some animal shelters, I am sure if Kuning is there, he should be able to get him back.
Ya right….Mrs. Tham. How silly of me. Just to cover all bases if Panjang can be brought over to the shelters to check; if not there; please check the pound within the area; nearest Setapak. Re the vets will alert my vets and their friends in my area.
Hello! I don’t know if this will be effective: should we write an open letter to S*CA chairwoman & ask her directly if Kuning is with them? **i think they will take ages to reply email la. What do ya think?
Tara, U can do that too.
I wrote an email to spca formally, yesterday. I will wait & see…
Is this Kuning neutered already? Why is he wondering around the mangrove area?
Dog shouldn’t be wondering around unattended. If you really love a dog, be more responsible. Put a collar, microchip your dog and really look after him.
What if we give them a phone call?
Seeing Hitam(Kuning’s Partner) today, its so sad that these strays having such a hard life and getting a 2nd chance is rob off this chance.Whoever has Kuning…if its by mistake(everyone makes mistakes, its alright) let Kuning be reunited with Hitam……i am so sorry Pummmkin…just hope the reunion happens…i know how it feels…..i lost my “Stray”..my 3rd dog for a week before i finally found him at PAWs before i adopt him formally….the joys of him seeing me among the pack is unforgettable!!!Thats my Panjang now at home.
This is actually a very good website posting, I have learnt a good deal.
