educative and interesting, and without a doubt, you’ve hit the nail on the head.
The issue is something that too few men and women are speaking intelligently about.
I am very happy that I stumbled across this during my hunt for something regarding this.

It is just documented as well as established information that
something of high class is expected to be costly, but these are exceptional.
Eruptions continued until 50,000 years ago, when the last lava flow came from the
El Cajete crater in the southern part of the caldera.

Whenever you are bored of the same old design, you can dismantle your stuff and move them at your convenience.

Oil-based paints and finishes tend to become brittle and
as the wood expands and contracts can crack. Ideally,
it should be made of solid-core wood or metal and
fitted with a dead-bolt lock.

But, think about this, suppose you were to write a killer title?
I mean, I don’t wish to tell you how to run your blog, but suppose you added
a post title to possibly get a person’s attention? I mean
Survivalist Sack – Part 1 ? Pummkin’s Pitch
is a little boring. You might look at Yahoo’s front page and see how
they create news headlines to get people to open
the links. You might add a related video or a
pic or two to grab people interested about
what you’ve written. In my opinion, it could bring your
blog a little bit more interesting.

I have never learnt to use axes properly. Hence I find them as dangerous as the exes. 😉 I prefer parangs as they are essentially just heavier and meaner-looking knives. My steel mug could probably cook rice and whole lot of other food. It is I who cannot cook. :'( Will stick to macaroni & angel-hair pasta and let the rice cooker do its magic.

Have fun playing outdoors!

LOL! I almost fell off my chair reading your comments! Yes, Mr.DIY is indeed ‘haunted!’ I’m impressed with your collection & I must say, I got myself a mini axe. I’ve also gotten myself a stainless steel thermal mug that can cook rice too! Never tried macaroni though. That impending Part 2 should come soon. I’m clearing all my obligations just so that I can get outdoors & play & I’ve just finished the minutes for a 10hour meeting I attended. I had to reply this comment because I think you should blog about what you have written here too! You have just inspired me to do my Part 2 quickly!

Here are a few of the things I have acquired (and lost):
1) An old backpack with leather bottom – have since repurpose to carry other things. stuff are now all over the place. (Will put “regroup things into other bag” in the “to-dos” list)
2) Small parang & sharpening stone – some one borrowed the parang & have not returned. Now only left with the sharpening stone.
3) Small compass – now attached to my keys
4) Multipurpose pocket knife – this free souvenir comes with little LED light, scissors, knife, can opener, and even a little tweezer. have had this nifty knife since forever.
5) DIY pop-can alcohol stoves – tried a few versions (pressurize penny stove; double-walled stove; groove stove) based on youtube videos, they all worked just fine.
6) Stainless steel cooking vessels – just stainless steel single-walled food containers with lid. the first one was squarish and a little unstable on the pop-can stove so bought a cylinderical one. then discovered that a stainless steel mug is enough to cook food for one person.
7) Small stainless steel multitool – just needed the pliers to pick up hot item especially item(6)
8) DIY food cozy – (videos on youtube) to use less fuel for cooking. favourite no fuss recipe: boiled water in mug, put mug in cozy, chunk in some macaroni + packet of powdered mushroom soup, close cozy and set aside. eat when macaroni is ready. carefull not to burn tongue. Have tried successfully (only once so far!) cooking rice using similar method.
9) poncho – mainly used as rain coat and ground sheet. don’t have enough skill to hang it as a tent.
10) DIY emergency whistle – lost. but doesn’t matter. can make another one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwMgfHJkZJ4)

I haven’t jungle-camped for a long while, thus currently think urban survival skills(e.g. changing electrical fuse; calling the right number for automobile-assist etc.) are far more important than jungle survival skills. 🙂

One of the best places to get your supplies is Mr. DIY & Daiso. What I couldn’t find affordable in shops, I found in these places! There’s a big outlet in SS2 Mall, and it’s where I got a self-inflating pillow from. So you’re not gonna show what you have acquired??? Or at least tell?

Other aliens too have been landing on our land in droves with all sort of intentions every hour since forever. 😮 Thank God, only a handfull decided to go military.

Anyway, from past experiences if things could be lost, I would loose it, more often sooner than later. 🙂 So no premium items for me, only unbranded stuff and DIY stuff. Unless I go to adventurous faraway destinations that I truly have to rely on those premium items, those money are better spent on something that I might actually need (say a high grade jumper cable to jump start the car in case I forgot to switch of the lights till battery run flat).

Looking forward to read the part 2 of this post. Sorry, you can’t glee over my stuff because I don’t show the world the contents of my bag. 😀

p.s. I highly recommend everyone to have that jumper cable in each car. Mine had saved not only yours truly numerous time, but also saved others at parking lots. 😉

I do have a Storm Whistle attached! Just forgot to make mention of it. The Part 2 of this post features a 50+ litre rucksack that I actually brought out camping with. The Millet backpack has now become my daily use bag after ditching my handbags for practical reasons. I hope you realise what event I was referring to that happened in February this year across the seas from us in a few coastal cowboy towns. Natural disasters are more likely to happen as you said & you can always err on the side of caution! (Darn, I don’t know which box I put my first crush letters in! 😀 ) I’ve acquired more gadgets since & with the number of reviews I’ve to write & products to test, it looks like another trip is imminent! Since you are putting yours together, do you have blog where I can find glee over your acquisitions??? 🙂

I would like to suggest that you get something shiny as your cooking vessel – it can doubled as a signaling device. And also to add an ear-piercing whistle into your Survival Sack.

Gadgets aside, as fires, floods, landslides and even roof colapsing are more likely to happen than apocalyptic intergalactic alien war / invasion, I think a “Grab-bag” is more important. A grab-bag is THE bag that you should first grab and save before anything else (but after you had saved lives). It must contains all your important documents (if letters from your first crush are important, then they must be in the bag), and meds.

Thanks to your article, I now would like to include a few survival items featured here but have not decide what yet. Don’t want to include all as grab-bag should be small and light enough to be “grabbable”. 🙂

Acquire a gadget a month! Makes you look forward to getting marooned or lost with someone, don’t you think? You can always demonstrate your skills & start a fire together! And you only need a spark! 😀

Looks like mere mortals with shallow pocket will die in case of catastropic intergalactic alien war / invasion. Have you planned emergency escape route? Would like to rendezvous and survive disaster with you. 🙂

Great article!
