Sabbatical Over – Back With Fervour!

Bliss in Langkawi

Bliss in Langkawi

Independence day takes on a new meaning in my life as I come to the end of my contract with Virtual Malaysia. I get to enjoy the sheer gladness of Rufus, having me the entire day to himself when he rubs his head onto my lap and leans his entire furry body on me while I read my book. With the rainy spell, the air is cooled to 21?C and I get to jab my finger in between his paw pads to keep warm. I decided to take him to Penang where he had the whole compound of my best friend’s house to roam. Spending a total of 18 days with 8 days in between that time in Langkawi, I was truly living it up with great food and company.

I went searching for Pratincole’s nests, combing the wild for the Red Wattled Lapwing and Butterfly Lizards, I was not short on adventure. At night, we went Nightjar hunting. Somewhat satisfying my National Geographic-photographer-wannabe tendencies. In the day, I was fed like a queen, breakfast made for me, grapes for desert, Yakult for mid-morning and yummy lunch followed by a lavish dinner EVERY night. I shudder to stand on the scale after returning home.

I went to Langkawi under the Langkawi Development Authority and Kedah state government’s invitation to look into developing new products for tourism on the island. I took a sabbatical from blogging because I had to settle matters that stifled my creativity. In the mad rush from one event to another, there was no break to even think about things that mattered to me. Thankfully, Langkawi was a much needed holiday.

I’m back with a new assignment in a new magazine. And I hope I can still blog like before.
